Catholicism and Climate Change

Pope Francis is bringing Catholics into the 21st century with his Encyclical letter Laudato Si'.  It discusses the effects we as humans are having on our environment.  It depicts climate change and then goes on to say what groups are being most effected by climate change.  Pope Francis focuses on how climate change is greatly effecting the poor.  The poor feel the effects the most because they are often closest to nature.

This letter is written just to Catholics but to everyone.  It is a call to action for both Catholics and the rest of the world.  People are suffering and we should offer our help.  In order to do this climate change must be acknowledged.  Then we need to make changes to our everyday lives, consume less, produce less, and react more.  Having a leader such as the Pope speak out on climate change is extremely influential because for many he is a connection between God and ourselves.  For others he is still a leader of a group that often denies science, who is blatantly saying that the science is correct and we are harming our planet with our pollution.
