Catholics and the Green New Deal (outside reading)
I was recently reading an article on whether the pope would support the Green New Deal proposed by AOC, which relates heavily to this class. I had not considered that this would be something that the Catholic Church paid attention to, but the article said that several bishops had lent support to bills that would place a fee on carbon emissions.
In Pope Francis's book, the Laudato Si', he discussed the intersections of the world, and how interconnected everything truly is. This led to him talking about environmental degradation, and calling it a social and environmental crisis. It was really interesting to read quotes from the book he wrote that argue for us to be better stewards of the earth by protecting nature more, and therefore stopping/slowing climate change.
