Western and Eastern traditions gap

4/11/19
While getting into the nitty gritty of deep ecology one of the main focuses is to not set up religion and science as opposites. In a article I read it states, "the 'rational' sciences is often in opposition to the 'irrational' religions", which results in this false consciousness. Many people look at these two perspectives as separate and that the capitalist west objectifies "the natural" and the 'simple east' is "at one" with nature. Throughout this article it focuses on this concern for environmental degradation and argues that we must move past the opposing categorization of scientific vs. religious views of nature. I feel that this is a huge issue that still needs to be overcome because with this divide not much on environmental issues will be solved.
