Continued Destruction (Chp 22).
Ecology of Eden's twenty-second chapter discusses the human-led efforts towards protecting and maintaining our environment. Managers are more scientific minded, trying to logically conserve the environment through introduced methodology and technology, thus allowing for man's advancement. Fetishers believe that nature itself is perfect and shouldn't be disturbed by man. In doing so they think that man should return to more primitive ways to decrease our impacts.
Being an Environmental Biology, I would consider myself more of a manager than a Fetisher. I tend to use more scientific methodology and technological innovations when working toward research projects. Unfortunately, I don't think our society is able to return to a more primitive style of living considering how far we've come. To return to those methods of survival would certainly mean the death of millions of people. The only question is, is that worth the continued destruction of our planet?
