Deep Ecology
While finding articles for my paper on Arne Naess and Deep Ecology I found a very good summary article by Alan Drengson. In this article, Drengson gives s a briefly synonpsis of the deep ecological movement, based on the works of Arne Naess. The goal of this movement is to reconnect to nature and break ecological issues down to their fundamental values and then work to solve them from a holistic perspective. In doing this, we reconnect to the world around us through empathy.
The principles of deep ecology are more of what is needed to return to a creaturely mindset and thus live the lives that God intended for man. However, society is still unsure about such lifestyles and those that support deep ecology are still looked at oddly. A lot of the issues with such practices are that what they stand for is misunderstood by others and misconstrued by some. All in all - with time will come more people who share this mindset and then, maybe then. we can return to a more creaturely way of life.
