Degradation of the Ocean

I recently became a certified scuba diver about a year ago because I wanted to be able to experience the ocean in a new light. I have gone diving in various types of ocean and lake habitats, and I seem to find a reoccurring factor. Everywhere I go, I find garbage and other types of pollution in areas that you wouldn't expect to find those things. In beautiful coral reefs , I find bags of Lays potato chips. In crystal clear lakes, I find bottles of beer. In areas filled with an assortment of sea life, I find that the sea life has become accustomed to living around pollution, and in some circumstances, they use garbage as places to hide or live in. This is one of the saddest things I have ever had to experience because I know that humans are the cause of the degradation of the ocean and its wild habitat. This class really made me think harder about how life would be different if humans actually took care of the environments around us.
