Ecopiety

While doing research for my paper, I found an article entitled "The way of ecopiety: An essay in deep ecology from a Sinitic perspective." One thing the author focuses on is the concept of ecopiety, which involves the connections of people to others, living and dead, and how that shapes how we interact with the earth. He relates this as a core principle of a form of Korean shamanism, and how the two intertwine from an ecological perspective.

I think the concept of ecopiety is quite interesting. The connection to the earth and other living things is something that many religions talk about, although they do not necessarily use that word. It brings the individual back to their intrinsic connections with others, tying everything together. This relates back to dwelling, in a way. People who live by the concept of ecopiety are more able to dwell where they are, as they understand they find themselves grounded in the world and living in the moment more easily.
