Forest Conservation

It is important for people to examine the role of religion in forest conservation. I read in an article that investigators have found that “traditional environmental knowledge and Western scientific knowledge are complementary.” This can be seen in Buddhist practices in Thailand that include the community using “religiously sanctioned protected areas” in order for these trees and forests to remain scared and promote biodiversity. I feel many of these practices can be taken away for the United States, as many Catholic and Lutheran values have been belittled due to deforestation in Oregon, with the government not considering religious concerns on this issue.
