Much of the US has been tertiary and quaternary which means we are providing a service such as teaching or nursing as well as researching and development. The primary and secondary jobs often end up in developing countries. These types of jobs consist of getting raw materials from the natural environment such as mining and then manufacturing those items such as making cars. In these types of areas there is a lot more environmental degradation to their land. Since the US, and other large developed countries aren't seeing the effects first hand we choose to respond later. My hope is that this issues will be addressed before its gets worse.
