Light of Reverence and coexisting

[Personal Choice]

Evaluation of Light of Reverence

In Native American culture, the Earth and its constituents are considered as intertwined in an interrelationship of give and take that allows nature to flourish and provide life. Many native American tribes have shrines or landmarks that are considered sacred and designate holy ground. Rooted in contemporary American culture is a social drive for enjoyment, advancement and expansion that has put these sacred lands at risk of destruction or disrespect. Due to a clash of cultural beliefs, many present day Americans encroach on these holy places and attempt to make them their own, resulting in a conflict of cultures that can lead to legal action, loss of culture, and emotional distress.

Can extremely different cultures exist within close proximity to each other, or will one trump the other?

If they can, how can cultures coexist without losing their traditions and molding together?
