Saint Augustine’s Confessions book 1 sections 10 and 11

Augustine begins section 10 by saying “I sinned.” He says that his sins are liking sports and theater. He says that adults are distracted by sports and theater all the time. He thinks that sports and theater are delusions and Augustine asks God to free people from these temptations. In section 11 he talks about his life as a Christian who has not yet been baptized. Getting baptized during this time meant that you were getting ready to live a very serious Christian life. This meant that if you ever sinned then you would be denied access to the Christian heaven. Augustine thinks if would have been better for him to be baptized sooner, but at the same time he acknowledges that there was a lot of sin in him.
