Passage from the Qur'an
"Throughout its vast extent in space and its long sequence of transformations in time, the universe constitutes a single, multiform, sequential celebratory event. Every being in the universe is infinitely present to and influencing every other being in the universe. Every being contributes to the magnificence of the whole"
This passage from the Qur'an alludes to the web of life studied in ecology. In the web of life, all beings are connected and interact with each other in order to sustain balance and life. The ecosystem is dependent upon every creature in order to function smoothly. Humans have interrupted this web of life in many ways that has had cascading effects on several ecosystems as a whole. The more people understand these interconnections, the less likely they will be to act in hurtful ways to the environment. Religion is a good way to achieve this awareness.
