The Work That Reconnects

Through the research for my final paper I came across a website/organization called The Work That Reconnects. This organization was founded by Joanna Macy where her mission is to  create a groundbreaking framework for personal and social change, as well as a workshop methodology for its application in the ecological world. These workshops are held year round in different parts of the country and they are intended to inform and foster the ability to take part in healing the world of social and environmental conditions. Much of their work is about self-awareness of what is happening in the world and not being intimidated into not speaking your truth.

Reflecting on what is going on in the world and the public outcries that groups are making to force change. I think deep ecology/buddhist thought is a great place to start when it comes to the teaching of joining people together. The emphasis of deep ecology is about experiencing us as part of the living earth and finding our role in protecting the planet, not just observing nature. Maybe once people saw themselves as apart of nature and not just in nature or observing nature then we as a world will start taking care of earth.
