Valuing the Earth
As I researched the ecofeminist, Elizabeth Johnson, she wrote about how Gods love complements the world around us. He gave us this earth as a home not to commodify it, but to see him in every tree, bug, and landscape. She says God’s laws do not operate on worldly laws, but his love is overwhelming and abundant. No matter how much destruction and pain we have caused the earth, he wants it to be made known that he still loves us eternally. Not only are we called to see our value in him, humans are called to see creatures with the same amount of value as God sees them. Creatures values are not equated by price of cut or skin pattern, every single creature has equal value because God created them perfectly in his image and God loves them. It is humans responsibility to treat other creatures with respect and level that humans think they are on. Without doing that, there will continue to be exploitation and the amount of extinct species will only increase.
